Spending several days volunteering at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church was an immersive experience that left a lasting impact on me. Spread across multiple days, each moment spent in service added a layer of fulfillment and connection to the community that I won't soon forget.

Each day began with a sense of anticipation, knowing I would contribute to Mater Dolorosa's mission of compassion and support. When I stepped into the office, the familiar faces of the staff greeted me with open arms and briefed me on the day's tasks.

Over several days, I engaged in a variety of activities, from administrative duties to helping the office in whatever they needed. Organizing files, answering phone calls, and offering a listening ear to those seeking guidance all played crucial roles in supporting Mater Dolorosa's operations and extending help to those who needed it most.

As the days progressed, I found myself immersed in the rhythm of service, buoyed by the camaraderie and shared sense of purpose among the staff. Together, we worked to make a difference in the lives of others, fueled by a common commitment to compassion and empathy.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the office, I had the privilege of connecting with members of the community, each encounter leaving a profound impression on me. Connecting with members of the community, whether through sharing stories, offering words of encouragement, or aiding others, reminded me of how human connection can foster hope and resilience.

As the last hours of my volunteer stint approached, I couldn't help but reflect on the impact of my time at Mater Dolorosa. Through minor acts of kindness and selfless service, I had witnessed the transformative power of compassion in action, reaffirming my belief in the importance of giving back to those in need.

Leaving Mater Dolorosa, I carried with me not only memories of the countless lives touched by our collective efforts, but also a renewed sense of purpose and gratitude for the opportunity to serve others. My time spent volunteering at Mater Dolorosa had left an indelible mark on my heart, inspiring me to continue making a difference in the world, one act of service at a time.

 As a member/student of the Tulane Community, I've come to realize the value and the importance of volunteering by giving your time. Through volunteering it helps me grow as an individual who has acquired a purpose and to sustain a lifelong intrinsic and positive social impact. Volunteering allows you to gather knowledge, skills, and opportunities, you wouldn't have otherwise experienced. I know many times in my life, I have needed help, and I have been so grateful for anyone who gave me their time to help me succeed and that is why giving back is so instrumental in growing as a person. December Blog Post

December Hours: 4 November hours: 8 In December, I completed 4 hours of community service. Community service helped me apply classroom learning to real-world situations. Due to this experience, I could gain a better understanding of academic subjects as a result. Since I was able to do this, it motivated me to engage with them on a deeper level. I worked at the City Park Amusement Area for Celebration in the Oaks, greeting patrons and taking pictures of their families at the entrance. I enjoyed interacting with customers. I got to know where they were from. It was a freezing night, but I was able to offer a warm gesture. I had so much fun interacting with them and getting to know them. I also enjoyed the visual aspects of the event, such as the lights, decorations, and rides. It was a fun experience that I will never forget.
